Holiday recap of fall 2023 teachers on the rise
Over the last decade-plus, The United Family has partnered with Mrs. Bairds to take time throughout the school year to recognize teachers across our communities through the Teachers on the Rise program. The nominations that come in each year weave a narrative of appreciation, inspiration and a commitment to excellence.
As we reflect on the latest fall semester, it’s not merely a chapter in a book, but a testament to the profound impact educators have on shaping our future. Month after month, we’ve had the privilege of honoring teachers and educators who go above and beyond by surprising them at their school with gift cards, goodies and a recognition ceremony.
Each month, students from across the South Plains, Dallas-Ft. Worth area, and Amarillo region have the opportunity to submit nominations for their favorite teachers. In these nominations, students describe why they believe their teacher has gone above and beyond their standard teaching duties. After nominations are gathered at the end of the month, sponsors of the Teachers on the Rise program vote on nominated teachers, and there is a winner for each elementary, middle, and high school, totaling three winners in each region, Lubbock, DFW, and Amarillo.
At the end of the school year, winning teachers from each district and each month are invited to attend a celebratory banquet hosted by the Teachers on the Rise program. Multiple prizes are given away throughout the night with one lucky teacher receiving a grand prize of $1,000.
Recapping the semester, we witnessed nominations and stories of resilience, creativity, and compassion. These educators aren’t just teaching subjects; they’re nurturing dreams, instilling values, and shaping the leaders of tomorrow.
As we look forward to many more years of this successful partnership, we are excited to continue shining a spotlight on the incredible work our teachers do. In the semester to come, we anticipate more stories of inspiration, more moments of gratitude, and more opportunities to express our collective appreciation for the selfless dedication of teachers. Together, we’re creating a legacy of empowerment and recognizing that, indeed, our Teachers on the Rise are the backbone of communities.
