From Struggle to Strength: The Impact of United We Care
In the hustle and bustle of our daily work lives, it’s easy to feel like just another number. But what happens when life throws you a curveball, and you need someone to turn to? That’s where United We Care steps in to save the day. A United Family team member found solace and assistance through United We Care after falling into a personal crisis that made it challenging to maintain focus.
“When I was new to the company, I found myself in a terrible situation when I went to the doctor and found out I needed an emergency hysterectomy,” said the team member. “I was in no position to be able to afford the bills that would come with that surgery; however, it was something that was going to have to happen.”
“My store director told me about this program that was kind of new to us, United We Care. He printed up the papers for me and sent in a recommendation for me to help with the process of getting approved.”
After learning about United We Care, this team member hesitantly reached out to the United We Care Program Manager Kristi Gonzales, and was followed up with a heartening display of compassion, understanding, and genuine support. Through regular check-ins and personalized guidance, Kristi Gonzales brought her situation to the United We Care board and they voted to help this team member.
“I got everything together and turned in the application and paperwork,” said the team member. “Within days ALL of my checks arrived to get my bills paid off, I was shocked. What a great feeling that was!”
Fast forward to today, this team member now proudly serves on the United We Care board because she wanted to give back to the organization that helped her.
“Thank you so much to United for offering such a great program!”
Founded in 2007, United We Care boasts a dedicated board of 20 team members with a common mission: to positively impact the lives of team members in need. This special program is proudly guided by Kristi Gonzales, United We Care program manager, Team Member Advocate, and Resource Specialist.
At the core of the program’s success is the weekly contribution initiative, where team members generously contribute from their weekly paychecks. This collective effort forms a financial safety net, ready to deploy during times of crisis. It embodies the principle that a unified team can weather any storm together.
