The United Family Partners with Lubbock Matadors SC Game

The United FAmily Partners with Lubbock Matadors SC Game

On Saturday, June 22, The United Family had the opportunity to host “United Night” at the Lubbock Matadors SC. We passed out prizes and encouraged soccer fans to join The United Family rewards program, honor the Matador of the night, kick the game-starting first kick, and present the Special Olympics with a donation check! It was a special night, and The United Family is grateful for our partnership!

The Matador of the night is recognized at the beginning of each game. Victoria Trostle, senior accountant for The United Family, was chosen as Saturday’s Matador of the night for her dedication as a U-Crew member. The United Family’s U-Crew began in 2002 and allows United Family team members to volunteer and give back to the community that they serve! Over the years, U-Crew has donated over 60,000 hours of service in communities our grocery stores serve. Thank you, Victoria, and congratulations!

Alianna Bernal, a high school sophomore from Plainview, Texas, was selected to “kick-off” the game and did a fantastic job! Her mom, Rebekah Bernal, is the Hispanic innovation manager for United Supermarkets. Having them on the field was such a blast!

Throughout May, United Express locations held a donate-at-the-register campaign for the Special Olympics. This fundraiser raised over $6,500! United Supermarkets representatives and Angelo Lambis, director of fuel and convenience for The United Family, had the opportunity to present the Lubbock Special Olympics group with the donation check during halftime! The Special Olympics’ mission is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in various Olympic-like sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. Special Olympics is such a great organization, and with our generous guests’ help, we made a positive impact!

The guests and community members we serve remind us why The United Family does what we do! Having the opportunity to get involved with the community in this way creates lasting bonds and a positive impact that are irreplaceable. Go Matadors!
