Beat the Back to School Blues!
School Supply Fundraiser July 17-30

Back-to-school season is just around the corner! This past Monday, July 15th, the Lubbock Market Street on 98th and Quaker hosted the annual school supply fundraiser kick-off event. Superintendents from the Lubbock-area school districts participated in a mini-shopping spree with $150 gift cards donated by Market Street to get a head start on purchasing school supplies. The Lubbock-area school districts benefiting from the supply drive include Lubbock ISD, Lubbock-Cooper ISD, Frenship ISD, Roosevelt ISD, Slaton ISD, and Shallowater ISD. School district personnel will use the donated funds to purchase supplies and distribute them to their students with the greatest need.

As opposed to donating physical supplies, guests are urged to donate at the registers from July 15 to July 30. These donations can be of any amount or made at any United Supermarkets, Market Street, or Amigos locations in the Lubbock area.

“We are so proud to once again partner with our surrounding school districts to help raise money for school supplies,” said Mark Yowell, regional vice president of The United Family. “While new school supplies can contribute to the excitement of a new school year, they can also be a point of financial stress for many families. The money we raise will help ensure each benefiting child is offered an opportunity for success in the classroom this year.”

Abilene and Wichita Falls area schools will also host drives, and will be collecting donations at the United Supermarkets and Market Street locations in their area from July 17 to July 30. The Wichita Falls area funds will be donated to the Wichita Falls ISD Foundation, and the Abilene area funds will be given to the Abilene United Way for the K Ready Kids initiative.

Our future rests in the hands of the future generations. Allowing them to have everything they need to be successful is a priceless investment in their future!
