The United Family Comes Together for Central Texas

When disaster strikes, Texans show up for each other. And this summer has been no exception. After devastating floods swept through Central Texas in July, The United Family and its guests and team members rallied to help neighbors in need…. And the results were incredible!

This week, The United Family presented a $75,000 donation to the San Angelo Area Foundation to support local flood relief efforts.

The donate-at-the-register campaign ran across all 99 United Family stores across Texas and New Mexico at all United Supermarkets, Market Street, Amigos, and Albertsons Market locations. To kick things off, The United Family made a lead gift of $10,000.

This check presentation was part of a larger donation to the Texas Hill Country, thanks to the help of The United Family’s sister divisions in Albertsons Companies. Together, the Albertsons Companies Foundation is donating $487,366.00 to the Kerr County Flood Relief Fund managed by organizations Community Foundation of Texas Hill Country and the San Angelo Area Foundation.

“Our fellow Texans who were deeply impacted by the recent floods continue to be in our thoughts and prayers,” said Sidney Hopper, president of The United Family Division. “Words cannot adequately describe the devastation from this event. We are grateful to be part of an organization that mobilized and united to help our neighbors in need.”

“We are incredibly grateful to our guests for their generosity and willingness to step up and help Texans impacted by these horrific storms,” said Kylon Atteberry, store director for the Market Street in San Angelo. “I’m also thankful for organizations like the San Angelo Area Foundation, which are using donated funds to get relief to those who need it. We’re proud to support them and our community.”

The San Angelo Area Foundation has been serving the community since 2002, with a mission of improving the quality of life. Over the years, they’ve awarded more than $175 million in grants, supporting countless causes in San Angelo and the surrounding areas.

“We are grateful for the heartfelt support as our community continues to recover from the recent floods,” said Matt Lewis, CEO for the San Angelo Area Foundation. “The generosity of others is a true reflection of the compassion that exists, and while we know the road ahead will be long, these gifts inspire hope for those who have been impacted.”

The Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country expressed deep gratitude for this donation, which will directly benefit the families impacted most, including the 118 precious lives that were lost. Grants are already in progress, and individuals are continuing to receive immediate assistance.

“This extraordinary gift will help our neighbors rebuild their lives and restore hope for hundreds of families,” said Austin Dickson, CEO, Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country. “We are deeply grateful for this powerful act of solidarity with the Hill Country during such a trying time.”

At the end of the day, this story is about neighbors helping neighbors. Because when we give together, we grow stronger together!
