Cookin’ Up Community at Hub City BBQ Fest

October is the perfect month for BBQ, and on October 3, the Lubbock community came together for the infamous Hub City BBQ Cook-Off. This friendly BBQ competition brought together local businesses, community members, and over 100 cooking teams to showcase their best skills in six categories: Bloody Mary, beans, mystery challenge meat, pork ribs, brisket, and dessert. 

After the judging, the community is invited to sample the barbecue, listen to fantastic live music, and explore offerings from Lubbock’s local businesses. As the official sponsor grocer, United Supermarkets proudly provided meat for the event, including ribs, brisket, and the mystery meat—chicken! 

United Supermarkets had a great showing, taking FIRST place in the Bloody Mary category and securing eighth place in pork ribs. We’re grateful to our teams for their hard work and dedication, and we truly adore the community spirit that makes this event special year after year.
