2025 Intern Spotlight!

Melody Alvarez

Melody Alvarez is a supply chain intern with Llano Logistics from Bastrop, Texas, and attends Texas Tech University, pursuing a degree in supply chain management and marketing. Melody shared that she is most excited to learn every aspect of the supply chain and see how all the areas align together at the end!

Luke Cellars

Luke Cellars is an industrial engineering intern with USM Manufacturing from Melissa, Texas, and attends Texas Tech University, pursuing a degree in industrial engineering. This summer, he will work on a large project focusing on finding the sweet spot of the steam jacketed kettles, which are used in food manufacturing for various cheeses and sauces. He will find a balance with reducing the burn on and having lower temperatures which would effectively allow to move more product and help decrease labor hours. He will do this by finding the optimal steam pressures and set temperatures for the heating process, as well as, diagnosing any potential problems that would need to be fixed with the kettles themselves. Luke shared that he is most excited for the U-Crew volunteer event with High Point Village, where the team of interns will go bowling with the villagers at South Plains Lanes! 

Sarah Beardain

Sarah Beardain is a marketing intern at the Store Support Center from Lubbock, Texas, and attends Texas Tech University, pursuing a degree in advertising. Before her internship, she served as a floral clerk at United Supermarkets #657 in Lubbock. This summer, she will make sure the online catalog is up to date and displaying the correct information. She will also spend time with the loyalty team, helping make digital deals for rewards members. Sarah shared that she is excited to learn so much this summer! She will have the opportunity to bounce around the different departments within marketing, so that she can experience every aspect and figure out what she enjoys most!

Ines Urena

Ines Urena is a general merchandising intern with Llano Logistics from Costa Rica, she attends Texas Tech University, pursuing a degree in retail management. This summer, she will work on creating standardized order guides and catalogs for the department’s DSD vendors, and will conduct an entire analysis of a certain category. Ines shared that she is excited to learn so much this summer and to not only become a part of a team, but also a family!

Drew Grellhesl

Drew Grellhesl is an accounting intern at the Store Support Center from Lubbock, Texas, and she attends Lubbock Christian University, pursuing a degree in accounting. This summer, she will be working with the accounting department on capitalizing fixed assets. Drew shared that she is excited to learn as much as she can this summer and impress her professors. She is also enjoying building relationships with her co-workers and of course, building her corporate wardrobe!

Karly Price

Karly Price is a public relations intern at the Store Support Center from Farmersville, Texas, attending Texas Tech University, pursuing a degree in business management. Before her internship, she served as a StreetSide Shopper at United Supermarkets #552 in Lubbock. This summer, she will work on collecting and creating different media for United’s newsroom website. She will also spend time creating the United Family’s weekly blog posts. In addition to assisting with LinkedIn content! Karly shared that she is most excited to develop new skills that will help her future career. She is eager to  gain hands-on experience while still attending school.

Heidi Fullerton

Heidi Fullerton is a grocery merchandising intern with Llano Logistics and recently graduated from Lubbock Christian University with a degree in management and a minor in marketing. Prior to her internship, she served as a sacker at Market Street #553 in Lubbock. This summer, she will be training in merchandising to better understand how products are chosen and displayed, while also learning about consumer behavior.

 She is getting a real look at merchandising changes in action and how they impact the shopping experience, while also learning how to bring the right products into the store to make sure guests’ needs are met. Heidi shared that she is excited to see how effective merchandising influences what people choose to buy. She has the opportunity to get a behind-the-scenes look at how merchandising teams apply consumer behavior insights to increase sales and shape the overall shopping experience!
