A Winning Weekend with the Lubbock Matadors

A Winning Weekend with the Lubbock Matadors

On Friday, June 13, The United Family and The Lubbock Matadors kicked off a fun-filled weekend with player visits to four United Family stores in Lubbock. The store teams started their Friday with high fives, selfies, and a helping hand from the Matadors players. Yes, the players were bagging groceries and spreading team spirit while local radio stations tagged in on the fun and handed out free tickets to Saturday’s United Family Night game on June 14.

The fun energy carried straight into Saturday for United Family Night at Lowery Field. The U-Crew team was set up at the gates, ready to hand out Matador T-shirts and special fans to 500 soccer supporters arriving to cheer on the Lubbock Matadors. Before the Matadors could take the field, the local heroes of Lubbock played a friendly match of soccer. Both the Lubbock Police Department and Fire Department played a great game, but it was the Fire Department that ultimately secured the win.

At halftime, The United Family took the field to present the Lubbock Police Foundation with a $2,500 donation, as well as another $2,500 donation to the Lubbock Professional Firefighters Association. For United, celebrating the community means giving back to those who serve it every day.

The Lubbock Matadors faced FC Brownsville and, after a thrilling match, the Matadors claimed the win. It was the perfect way to wrap up this action-packed weekend. A huge thanks to all the team members who helped make this weekend a huge success! We appreciate all the hard work and dedication you bring every day.
