The United Family Celebrates 35 Years of Giving Through the Jacky Pierce Charity Classic
For 35 years, the Jacky Pierce Charity Classic has brought The United Family together with its partners for a shared purpose: making a difference in the communities The United Family serves.
This year, that tradition continued in a remarkable way.
During the 35th Annual Jacky Pierce Charity Classic, The United Family and its partners donated $500,000 to 24 nonprofit organizations, helping support programs and services that strengthen communities, assist families, and improve lives., With this year’s contribution, the tournament has now generated more than $7.5 million for charitable causes since its start in the early 1990s.
More than 600 golfers from across the country traveled to Lubbock to participate in this year’s event. Before tournament play began, beneficiary organizations were recognized and presented with donation checks, celebrating the impact these funds will have in the communities they serve.”
Supporting the communities we serve has always been at the heart of our mission, and for 35 years, the Jacky Pierce Charity Classic has been an important part of that commitment,” said Sidney Hopper, president of The United Family.
Named in honor of the late Jacky Pierce, a longtime produce director for United Supermarkets, the tournament began as a small golf outing and charitable fundraiser. Over the years, it has grown into one of The United Family’s most meaningful traditions and a powerful force for good throughout the region. The success of the event is made possible through the longstanding support of The United Family’s partners, many of whom have participated for decades.
While the golf tournament provides friendly competition and fellowship, its true purpose is reflected in the organizations it supports. The 24 beneficiary groups, including local United Way chapters and other nonprofits, work every day to address critical community needs and create opportunities for individuals and families to thrive.
As the Jacky Pierce Charity Classic celebrates its 35th year, the impact of the tournament continues to grow. More than three decades after it began, the event remains a powerful example of what can happen when partners come together with a shared commitment to serving others.
Here’s to 35 years of giving back, and to the many more lives that will be impacted in the years ahead.
